THE CASE
On 25 January 1997, news photographer José Luis Cabezas was found in a burned car near Pinamar, handcuffed and shot. He worked for the magazine Noticias, and had photographed a businessman who guarded his anonymity fiercely.
His murder became a symbol of press freedom under threat. “No se olviden de Cabezas” — don’t forget Cabezas — was written across the country, and is still written today.
