THE CASE

On 13 June 2024, five-year-old Loan Danilo Peña disappeared near the hamlet of 9 de Julio, Corrientes, after a lunch at his grandmother’s house. He had walked out with relatives and neighbours toward a nearby orange grove; somewhere on the way back, he vanished. He has never been found.

What followed became one of the largest searches in Argentine history — and then one of its most contested investigations. Seven people, including relatives by marriage and a former police officer, went on trial in June 2026, charged with the abduction and concealment of a minor; ten more face charges in related cover-up proceedings. All deny the accusations, no one has been convicted, and the trial is ongoing. This is the case Argentina cannot close — and the one we end the season on.

The systemSeventeen accused across two proceedings, a trial with hundreds of witnesses — and the only question that matters still unanswered.
